I CAN'T NOT MAKE GAMES.

I have enough lockerspace to hold an episode of Friends.

"We'll make a toast to absent friends and better days,
To remembering and being remembered as brave
And not as a bunch of whining jerks!

Don't lose your nerve.
Do not go straight
You must testify
(or I'm going to come to your house and punch you in the mouth)
cause CLOWNS MUST STAND."

Iron Gaia
As the only human awake on board a space station controlled by an insane AI with delusions of deification, you must unravel the mystery of your own identity and discover: "What is the Iron Gaia?"

Need some staff.

I am down for the last two things you requested, uh, depending on the specifics of your project which, Karsuman is right, you really should post.

Please answer my e-mail.

Laxius Force (Laxius Power IV) released - priced at $15

Disclaimer: I AM NOT DEFENDING LAXIUS POWER.

That said...

You guys are all just jealous.

I certainly am :(

I mean, I know you were kidding and everthing, but Jealous of what? Anyone can sell a game. You (& Teo) especially, with Wilfred, since it is made with 100% original graphics/music/testicles.

A vision alone and hard work isn't enough. You still need talent and proper programming/storytelling/graphical skills etc. if you want to work at a commercial standard. That's what specialisation is for (and why I'm critical of most "one-man army" games).

I can say that if I believed that everyone had your attitude, I would no longer bother making amateur games. And incidentally, it's been my observation that far, far more "Team Projects" fail than solo projects.

I'm definitely not buying any game with the default XP battle system layout, for instance.

Actually, a "layout" in and of itself does not determine how much fun a game is. For instance, ABL is MORE FUN than most commercial games in spite of using the rm2k DBS. Saying this is basically saying you wouldn't buy (back in the day when you couldn't just Emulate them for free) Dragon Warrior or Paladin's Quest since they used a front-view battle system.

But think about it this way; there's still a good load of other copyright issues hanging in the balance for a good number of RM games (r-ripped graphics..).

So you wouldn't buy a game with (mostly) RTP graphics? Are you one of those people who wouldn't even PLAY one? Anyway, it's not like things that rape copyright laws aren't bought and sold every day, so that's kind of a moot point. For instance (sorry to keep name dropping the same three to five games in every fucking topic, I know I have a really bad habit of doing this) Wilfred The Hero has original graphics, gameplay, and music. You're saying you wouldn't buy it if Brandon & Teo hadn't chosen to release it for free?

I really can't see myself playing an RM game after having PAID for it. It just doesn't work IMO.

Why not? I personally would buy any RM game that looked even GOOD (not even requiring it to be excellent) if I could afford it (fat chance right now), as much to show my support for the indie RPG creation scene as to play the game. And $5-$15 is a very reasonable price for something like a Grave Spirit or a KNight-Blade or a Wilfred the Hero, or what have you.

This is..fallacious. What exactly do you mean by a "real" game?

Something you would pay money for.

I mean this is almost (not quite exactly) like saying you'd never buy a published story that had been written by someone you personally knew. I know that's not a great analogy, but I'm struggling to find a better one.

Crafting good story/characters

But in FF7 you can make the characters different to suit their personalities by using materia to give them different skill sets based on their character traits, which I did...

I just think it's weird that me, the consumer, while playing the game, wound up customizing the characters' abilities to suit their personalities, essentially doing the developers' work FOR THEM.

Questions you always wanted to ask other members, but felt too lazy or awkward to do so.

Who is Max McGee?

I basically PMed you the answer to this question, but I have no idea if you got it since the site's PMs are so messed up. (It SAID the PM was sent successfully on my end, I think, but who knows if that means anything.)

Laxius Force (Laxius Power IV) released - priced at $15

Sorry I'm not buying an RM game ever.

Not to pick on you, Yellow Magic, but I think I have more problems with THIS attitude than I do with anything Laxius Power IV related.

Why have this mindset? Why NOT support a creator, (with a strong artistic vision) who has put a shit ton of work into his game? I hate this outlook because it implies that RPG Maker games are not and cannot be real games, which I think is bullshit. I mean, sure, making games is fun, but they sell you a commercial license with (the more recent iterations of) the software for a reason, so it's not just meant to be JUST for fun.

Just because this game probably isn't as good as most games you can get for free, doesn't mean that you should never buy any RM game ever.

Script Database?

It seems to me that there are kind of a lot of topics (I know I have made some of them) in the help forum that are really looking for this kind of thing.

Out of curiosity, why do you think it is not a good idea?

Script Database?

Oh jeez, sorry....I have just really been loving me the caps lock lately. I literally did not even realize I had done that....God, I need an intervention or something.

Script Database?

So, a LOT of websites (RRR, RMVX) have a forum devoted to be a database of RM(V)X(P) scripts created/submitted by users. Since we don't really have an RMVX section up and running on the site (as Holbert pointed out recently) do any of the Powers That Be think that it would be a good idea to have this kind of thing on the forums?

This is more of a suggestion than a complaint, by the way, so yeah, discuss.

8:30-11:30:

I managed to complete approximately 2/3rds of the shops/merchants/stalls/random NPCs in the massive living urban area that serves as the Hub of my mystery project (a huge, sprawling 100 x 120 map). This monumentally exhausting activity marks the last piece of work I am able to do in RMVX, as my RMVX trial has just run out, and I am dead broke.
